Guidelines Used to Determine Market Values
- CAC Market Values reports coin market price trends exclusively for coins that have been approved and stickered by CAC (Certified Acceptance
Corporation). CAC approved coins have been graded and encapsulated by PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service) and NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Corporation) prior to their review by CAC. - Market values reported are for green stickered CAC coins only. Sales data for CAC gold stickered coins, which normally carry substantial price premiums, are not included.
- Price ranges reported by CAC Market Values represent median buy and sell ranges for each coin issue and grade listed. Individual sales prices that are obvious high and low outliers have been excluded from the price ranges reported. Examples of such outliers include coins that sell for premium prices because they possess extraordinary “toning” or have been given “+” grades by PCGS or NGC for which they receive additional point values in PCGS and NGC Registry collecting programs.
- Experienced, personal judgment has been used to determine buy and sell market values. Adjustments are often made for changing coin market trends for which there is limited sales data. Price trends have been rounded for clarity.
- Market values for common coin issues can normally be determined from sales data that has taken place over several months. However, sales data is more limited for scarce and rare coins that trade less frequently. Therefore, those price trends may have been determined from sales data covering much more time, in which case adjustments are made based on overall coin market trends.
